Border czar Tom Homan said Friday on Fox News that immigration enforcement operations will ramp up nationwide as Border Patrol agents expand their presence beyond traditional jurisdictions.

The Trump administration will reportedly send large teams of Border Patrol agents to Charlotte and New Orleans to lead upcoming immigration enforcement operations. Appearing on “The Will Cain Show,” Homan said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE’s) broadened posture reflects a shift in priorities.

“We’re going to a lot of cities, but I want to make one thing clear. ICE Director Todd Lyons. He oversees the interior enforcement operations. Border Patrol is doing a great job with us,” Homan told Will Cain. “The last four years, ICE has spent thousands of people down on the border to help the Border Patrol when they’re overwhelmed. Now the border is the most secure border in the history of this nation because of President Trump.”

Homan said the administration must rely on Border Patrol to reinforce ICE in cities across the country.

“Now we need their help because 10.5 million illegal aliens came to the border under President Biden. But add that to the 15 million already here,” Homan added.

Homan said the administration’s growing enforcement push will accelerate quickly.

“And as we hire the 10,000 new agents, they come online every month. You’re going to see more operations in more major cities, mainly sanctuary cities, because that’s where our biggest problem is, because public safety threats are released every day, and we know it. So you’re going to see a lot more of this coming in most major cities across the nation,” Homan said. Border crossings have plunged under President Donald Trump as the administration halted all migrant paroles for four consecutive months and cut southern border apprehensions by 93% compared to Biden-era averages, according to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data. The decline marks a dramatic reversal from the chaos under former President Joe Biden, when tens of thousands of migrants crossed illegally each month and the Border Patrol released nearly 90,000 migrants into the country in May and June 2024 alone, CBP records show.

The turnaround began as soon as Trump returned to office and reinstated aggressive enforcement measures. He signed executive orders restarting border wall construction, deploying military assets to the southern border, pausing refugee entries and initiating steps to end birthright citizenship for the children of illegal immigrants.
