Sleep-Deprived Senior Community Reeling As Classical Music Mysteriously Blares For Two Days Straight
Residents of a Buckhead senior community say a mobile surveillance trailer across from their building began blasting classical and opera music with flashing blue lights around 5 p.m. Wednesday and continued through Thursday night, wrecking sleep and fraying nerves.
The trailer sits in the shuttered Kroger lot on Morosgo Way and also plays automated warnings like “You are trespassing,” a tactic intended to deter trespassers that instead has neighbors demanding answers and relief, according to 11 Alive. “It was louder than this,” resident Josephine Kitt said, pointing toward the unit still emitting sound late Thursday. “At first, I thought it was Christmas carols. Then I realized it was classical music. It hasn’t stopped since.”
“Opera is beautiful — when you’re watching it on your own time,” said neighbor John Lennon. “But when you’re trying to go to sleep, it’s distracting.”
Another resident, Jeffrey Shelby, said he barely slept. “It’s been blasting all night long,” he said, adding later, “I just want to get some sleep tonight. I don’t know how I’ll make it through another night like this.”
Neighbors shared videos showing the music still going at 3 a.m. and bedroom windows pulsing with blue light, the outlet reported. Several said they don’t just want the volume cut — they want the device off entirely. “We spend too much money to live in a place like this and deal with this kind of nonsense,” Lennon said.
The Morosgo Way Kroger reportedly closed in July after the company announced several Atlanta-area shutdowns this summer, leaving an empty lot steps from the senior complex. The security trailer appeared to activate without warning this week, and by late Thursday the volume had dipped slightly but was still clearly audible inside nearby homes, residents said.
Neighbors say they’re bracing for a third sleepless night if the device isn’t shut down, according to 11 Alive.
