Head coach Bill O’Brien’s second season at Boston College has been dreadful, and it’s showing through the skipper.

In the 2025 campaign, the Eagles only have one win to tally a 1-8 record, putting themselves in last place in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) after getting shellacked at home, 25-10, by the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Amid a losing streak that’s seen BC suffer defeat in eight consecutive games, local reporter Mike Gualtieri questioned O’Brien during his midweek press conference regarding whether or not he had a message for fans who are frustrated with the program’s performance in 2025. Yeah, O’Brien wasn’t playing any of the “dark-clouded world” stuff.

“Yeah, I’m really glad,” clapped back O’Brien. “You know, I’m glad you’re down. I’m not down. Nobody’s down. We’re fighting, we’re competing. It’s the second year of this program, Mike. You always come in here with these down questions. You show up like once a month or something like that, and come in here with these down questions. I’m not down.

“I don’t know what year you graduated from BC, but this is a program that we’re building. Nobody here is down. We’re positive, we’re gonna show up and play out a** off against SMU. You can go out there in your dark-clouded world or whatever it is, and do what you wanna do. We’re not down. The sun is up, and we’re fighting. That’s my message to the fans.”
