'He Needs Help': Trump Mocks Obama Presidential Library In Wake Of Online Ridicule

President Donald Trump took a jab at former President Barack Obama’s stalled presidential library project on Tuesday.
Social media users mocked Obama’s presidential library, comparing its architectural style to garbage bins, the Death Star, and other imposing monoliths in a viral thread. While Trump was taking questions from reporters at the White House, Daily Caller White House correspondent Reagan Reese asked the president if he had seen the Obama Presidential Library, to which he replied that it was “not too pretty.”
“He needs help,” Trump told Reese. “It’s not too pretty. No, but it’s closed, it’s stopped. They ran out of money.”
Trump said that Obama’s presidential project had turned into a confused mix between a library and a museum.

“He’s building a library slash museum … and usually they call it a library and museum. That’s the official name. And they’re stuck. And he wanted only women in DEI [diversity, equity and inclusion] to build it. That’s what they got,” Trump said.
Social media users ridiculed Obama’s new presidential library after Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz compared its design to the Death Star. Cruz said that “locating the Death Star in Chicago was a bold move.” (RELATED: Obama Actually Says We Have No Idea What Motivation Was For Charlie Kirk Assassination)
Construction on the massive presidential library and museum has dragged since its 2021 groundbreaking, uprooting 19 acres on Chicago’s South Side. The project faced years of lawsuits and opposition from residents as rent and housing costs surged, pushing out many low-income families.
The Obama Foundation’s project has seen its price tag skyrocket far beyond early projections, climbing from roughly $300 million to more than $850 million. When first revealed in 2017, the plan carried a $500 million budget, which ballooned again to $700 million by 2021 as building expenses mounted.
The Obama Foundation did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
