'No Weapon Formed Against Me Shall Prosper': Indicted Letitia James Cites Scripture To Rail Against Trump

Democrat Attorney General of New York Letitia James turned to scripture and defiance Thursday, vowing to fight charges she claims are part of President Donald Trump’s political crusade to dismantle her office.
A federal grand jury indicted Letitia James on Thursday after Interim U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan presented the case in the Eastern District of Virginia. Standing defiant in a video posted on X, the New York attorney general said her faith leaves no room for fear and vowed to fight back aggressively.
“I’m a proud woman of faith, and I know that faith and fear cannot share the same space. And so today I’m not fearful. I’m fearless. And as my faith teaches me, no weapon formed against me shall prosper. We will fight these baseless charges aggressively, and my office will continue to fiercely protect New Yorkers and their rights, and I will continue to do my job,” James said.
James said the charges were “baseless” and accused Trump of weaponizing the justice system for political revenge.
“This is nothing more than a continuation of the President’s desperate weaponization of our justice system. He is forcing federal law enforcement agencies to do his bidding. All because I did my job as the New York State Attorney General,” James said. “These charges are baseless, and the President’s own public statements make clear that his only goal is political retribution at any cost. The President’s actions are a grave violation of our constitutional order and have drawn sharp criticism from members of both parties.”
James called on lawmakers in both parties to speak out against what she described as a disregard for the justice system.

“His decision to fire a United States Attorney who refused to bring charges against me and replace them with someone who is blindly loyal not to the law but to the President is antithetical to the bedrock principles of our country. This is the time for leaders on both sides of the aisle to speak out against this blatant perversion of our system of justice,” James added. “I stand strongly behind my office’s litigation against the Trump Organization. We conducted a two-year investigation based on the facts and evidence, not politics. Judges have upheld the trial court’s finding that Donald Trump, his company, and his two sons are liable for fraud.”
Trump appointed Lindsey Halligan in September after Erik Siebert resigned under pressure for refusing to bring charges. Two weeks earlier, a federal grand jury in the same district indicted former FBI Director James Comey, who pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of making false statements to Congress and obstructing a congressional proceeding. The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) referred James to the Department of Justice in April for allegedly falsifying mortgage documents. FHFA Director William Pulte accused James of misrepresenting a Virginia property as her primary residence in 2023 to obtain a better mortgage rate, even though she is required to reside in New York as the state’s attorney general.
James previously sued Trump in 2022, alleging he inflated his net worth to secure favorable loan terms. In August, a New York appeals court overturned a nearly $500 million civil fraud penalty she had won against Trump, calling the amount “excessive.”
