College Football Legend 'Considering' Exit From ESPN To Run For US Senate

In the Senate?! … I’m game!
Paul Finebaum, a host and analyst for SEC Network, says that he’s “considering” an exit from ESPN to pursue a U.S. Senate run as a member of the Republican Party.
Speaking in an interview with Clay Travis of OutKick, Finebaum stated the political assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk made him ponder over what really matters in life. Finebaum told Travis that it was tough for him to get through his show after he heard about the killing of Kirk.
“I spent four hours numb talking about things that didn’t matter to me. And it kept building throughout that weekend,” said Finebaum to Travis. “I felt very empty doing what I was doing that day.” (RELATED: Never-Ending Line Of People Show Up For Charlie Kirk T-Shirts Before Oregon-Penn State Game)
Finebaum said he didn’t personally know Kirk, however, his murder made a huge impact on how he sees things.
“It’s hard to describe, not being involved in politics, how that affected me and affected tens of millions of people all over this country. And it was an awakening,” said Finebaum.
The 70-year-old then had “one or two” people contact him about possibly being interested in politics, something he never imagined.
“One or two people in Washington had reached out to me about whether I would be interested in politics, something I never thought about before. Something I didn’t really think possible,” said Finebaum. “I gave some thought to it as the [after Kirk’s murder] weekend unfolded and got a little bit more interested.”
