Serena Williams Stirs Up Debate After Trying To Call Out Seemingly Simple Decoration At Hotel

And the victim of the century award goes to … Serena Williams!

The Grand Slam champion took to social media to gripe about a cotton plant decoration in her New York City hotel hallway.

“All right everyone, how do we feel about cotton as decoration?” Williams asked from behind the camera. “Personally, for me, it doesn’t feel great.” (RELATED: Serena Williams Calls Out Hotel For Denying Her Entry)

The camera then cuts to Williams removing a piece of the cotton from the plant and rubbing it on her hand.

“So, actually, it feels like nail polish remover cotton,” Williams tells viewers, shuddering.

Presumably, Williams is uncomfortable because slaves once picked cotton in the American South. I, for one, am deeply sympathetic to the millionaire celebrity’s plight. Imagine Williams’ anguish at seeing a man smoke a cigarette. Or eat a donut. Or Japanese food.

This, given tobacco, sugar, and rice were also Southern cash crops.

Williams was in New York City for a lavish dinner hosted by Kim Kardashian in celebration of the collaboration between Kardashian’s clothing brand, SKIMS, and Nike.

A quick perusal of Skims’ catalogue reveals an entire cotton collection. Consider Williams’ extraordinary bravery in swallowing her trauma and attending the event, regardless. (RELATED: Serena Williams Says There Is No Way Women Can Beat Men In Tennis In Incredible Resurfaced Footage)

Williams posted photos of the event, held last night, to her Instagram. Her profile is nothing less than a collage of luxury vacations, warm moments with celebrities, and brand deals.

This is what happens when you run out of legitimate complaints.
