America Has A New Beer King, And It Might Anger Some Dedicated Conservatives Still Holding Out

If you are reading this and still boycotting Bud Light and Anheuser-Busch over its partnership with Dylan Mulvaney years ago, you are an absolute legend, and I commend you.
Like the Japanese soldier who hid in the jungle long after the Empire of the Rising Sun threw in the towel, your stalwart devotion to the anti-Bud Light cause will go down in the history books. After all, Anheuser-Busch never explicitly issued an apology for its disastrous marketing decision, and that should count as reason enough to continue the boycott. (Subscribe to MR. Unfortunately, though, Michelob Ultra, an Anheuser-Busch beer, has recently become the top-selling brew in America, overtaking the Mexican lager Modelo.
For over 20 years, @MichelobULTRA has redefined what a superior light beer can be.

Modelo’s beer sales went gangbusters in 2023, owing, in part, to its great taste, but mainly because, during the conservative boycott of Bud Light and Anheuser-Busch, Americans wanted an alternative that had nothing to do with the disgraced brand and company.
However, it seems many people have forgotten about the Anheuser-Busch saga. Michelob advertisements and sponsorships are also literally plastered everywhere, especially in the world of sports. The beer brand currently has partnerships with the NBA (the first-ever global beer sponsor for the league), the PGA (a 30-year deal), the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, and the 2026 World Cup. I’m heartened by the fact that the Bud Light brand has not fully recovered since the initial boycott. But Michelob is simply a wolf in sheep’s clothing. I will stick to anything that isn’t Anheuser.
