A Florida woman vanished during a cross-country trip after sending her mother a disturbing photograph that authorities now consider a key piece of evidence in her mysterious disappearance, officials announced Tuesday.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office wants public assistance locating 38-year-old Ganna Kovrizhynkh, who went missing in July. A friend reported her missing on July 12, 2025, according to the sheriff’s press release. Family members last heard from Kovrizhynkh on July 5 while she drove through San Diego County. Federal missing persons records revealed troubling details about her final communication. On July 5, Kovrizhynkh’s mother received a photograph of a letter along with GPS coordinates from Potrero, California. The letter instructed her mother to take seize her personal assets. Seven days later, authorities discovered Kovrizhynkh’s Jeep Grand Cherokee and camper trailer abandoned near the 25000 block of Potrero Park Drive.

Sheriff’s detectives believe she may have crossed into the Tecate region of Baja California, Mexico. She may use the alias “Angel Volnaya.”

Law enforcement remains uncertain about the circumstances. “We don’t really have any belief one way or another at this point if there is foul play involved or if she just strictly voluntarily left,” Sheriff’s Sgt. Jacob Klepach told NBC San Diego.

Records show Kovrizhynkh’s last known address was in Hallandale Beach, Florida, and that she had business connections in Sunny Isles Beach. A registered agent at the business location told the outlet they hadn’t spoken with her in months.

Kovrizhynkh stands 5’5″ and weighs 100 pounds with blonde hair, blue eyes, and several arm tattoos, authorities said. She may wear a wig.
