Wow.

“First Take” host Molly Qerim is making her exit from ESPN.

“After much reflection, I’ve decided it’s time to close this incredible chapter and step away from First Take,” announced Qerim on her Instagram Story. “Hosting this show has been one of the greatest honors of my career. Every morning, I had the privilege of sharing the desk with some of the most brilliant, passionate, and entertaining voices in sports — and with all of you, the best fans in the world.”

Originally, it was reported that Qerim would stay with the four-letter network until the end of 2025. However, it appears that she’s done now, especially when you consider what ESPN superstar Stephen A. Smith said. (RELATED: Is Tom Brady Guilty Of ‘Ridiculous Conflict Of Interest’ With Latest Move?)

“We’ll miss her,” said Smith at the beginning of Tuesday’s show. “I will miss spending each weekday morning with her right by my side.”

Sounds like she’s done to me.

It was reported Monday by Sports Business Journal that ESPN offered a contract extension to Qerim, however, she turned it down. Afterward, Qerim posted on her Instagram Story that she was leaving, and now after Stephen A.’s comments, it appears that ESPN is facing a future for “First Take” that doesn’t include Qerim. “First Take” is considered ESPN‘s flagship morning show.

“Molly has been an integral part of ESPN since 2006 and a key driver of First Take’s success since joining as host a decade ago,” said ESPN President of Content Burke Magnus in an official statement. “She elevated the show with her poise, skill and professionalism, while supporting others as a kind and encouraging teammate. We respect Molly’s decision, wish her the best in the future, and thank her for her extraordinary daily commitment to sports fans and ESPN.”

Well, I can honestly say I didn’t see this coming.
