Uproar Ensues As EU Parliament Refuses To Say Prayer For Charlie Kirk

An uproar occurred inside the European Union (EU) Parliament on Thursday as conservative members protested a rejected proposal to pray for Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
Swedish Member of the European Parliament Charlie Weimers, who is a member of the conservative populist Sweden Democrats, called for the members to hold a moment of silence for Kirk, who was fatally shot in the neck at Utah Valley University. EU President Roberta Metsola rejected the proposal, leaving conservatives to begin banging on their desks and shouting in protest.
“Madam President, dear colleagues, the murder of political activist Charlie Kirk, a husband, loving father, and patriot, has shocked the world. We must strongly condemn political violence and rhetoric that incites violence. Please stand with me in reflection and prayer in his honor, and I yield the rest of my time for a moment of silence,” Weimers said. While speaking German, Metsola said that such tributes to a public figure can be held at the opening of a plenary session and said the next opportunity will be in October, according to Mediaite.
A similar occurrence happened in the House of Representatives on Wednesday night, where Democrat lawmakers shouted “no” in response to Republican Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert’s request to say a prayer for Kirk. House Speaker Mike Johnson repeatedly called for order and granted Boebert’s request.
Republican Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, who once worked at Turning Point USA, stepped in and shouted “Y’all caused this!” to the Democrats.
An individual fired a bullet at Kirk from a building located 200 yards away from the campus as he was speaking. The assailant appears to be a young adult male wearing a black sweatshirt, a cap and sunglasses, according to photographs released by the FBI in Salt Lake City.
Authorities made two false arrests in relation to the assassination on Wednesday and later released the suspects. Investigators discovered a high-powered, bolt-action firearm in a wooded area and ammunition that contained pro-transgender and pro-Antifa messaging.
