How are you gonna be from Latvia talking ish? (LMAO)

After getting a second-round upset win over No. 25 Jelena Ostapenko, 7-5, 6-1, American tennis star Taylor Townsend let out pure emotion Wednesday following the U.S. Open match.

But that’s not what has everybody talking, unfortunately. Rather, it’s the face-to-face spat that popped off between the two at the center of Court 11.

Ostapenko, a native of Latvia and former French Open winner (2017), allegedly told Townsend that she has “no class” and “no education,” according to the American star. (RELATED: ‘Surreal And Stunning’: Keegan Bradley ‘Deeply Honored’ President Trump Wanted Him To Compete In Ryder Cup)

“There’s no beef on my side,” said Townsend, per ESPN. “She told me I have no education, no class, and to see what happens if we play each other outside of the U.S. I said, ‘I’m excited. Bring it.’ I’ve never been the one to back down from anything like that.”

Townsend, an African-American, was questioned by a reporter if she thought the comments from Ostapenko had anything to do with race.

“I didn’t take it in that way, but also, you know, that has been a stigma in our community of being ‘not educated’ and all of the things, when it’s the furthest thing from the truth,” replied Townsend, per ESPN.

“So, whether it had racial undertones or not, that’s something she can speak on. The only thing that I’m worried about right now is continuing to move forward through this tournament,” she continued.
