As part of a deal that he made with Tennessee prosecutors to bring a conclusion to his DUI case, former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler will be serving time in jail.

Cutler, who played for the Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins in his career, will be in jail for a few extra days after he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor DUI charge. (RELATED: Johnny Manziel Keeps It Real About NBA Gambling Addiction During Wild Days In Cleveland)

As part of the deal, Williamson County prosecutors dismissed a weapons charge he was up against.

The 42-year-old Cutler made his guilty plea in court and he received a sentence of four days in jail. He was also ordered by a judge to pay a $350 in a fine, and he has to be on supervised probation for a year.

At the end of September, Cutler will begin his jail sentence. The former quarterback is also required to go to a DUI safety course and he’s also been suspended for a year from using his driver’s license.

Cutler’s jail time stems from an October traffic accident that took place in Franklin, Tennessee, where police stated he showed signs that he was intoxicated.

After refusing to take a field sobriety test, he was sent to a local hospital where he had to take a blood test. In the process of this, authorities located two firearms while searching his vehicle, with one of them being loaded.

Originally, Cutler was hit with four different charges after the incident: DUI, failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision, implied consent and possession of a handgun while under the influence. With the exception of the DUI, all other charges were dropped when he agreed with prosecutors on a plea deal.
