Giant Rat Size Of Dog Caught, And There's Apparently More

Giant rats the size of a dog? … Yikes.

That’s exactly what happened in a home located in Great Britain — Normanby, North Yorkshire to be exact. The rat was the size of a small dog. And to make the situation even worse, local politicians are saying that it could potentially be a “sign of things to come.”

The gargantuan rat, which was roughly 22-inches-long when measured from nose to tail, could possibly set a new record for the biggest rat ever found in the entire United Kingdom, per a report from the Daily Mail. The discovery has captured the attention of some of the residents living in the city who are claiming that the area’s rat problem is getting bad.

Stephen Martin and David Taylor, who are councillors for the city, published on social media that the public garbage containers are “overflowing in some areas,” making “easy food” for rats. (RELATED: Alligator’s Pool Party Comes To End After Police Get Involved)

“It’s almost the size of a small cat. And it’s not a one-off,” they wrote. “The longer this is ignored, the worse it will get. We need action — not just advice.”

Pest control experts say that the big rat was caught close to the boiler of the residence, and that it happened to be breeding, according to The Standard. Paul Salvin, another councillor for the city, said that the rodent is believed to be from the sewer and likely got into the house through the pipes.

“There are growing concerns from residents reporting more and more rats again,” said Salvin. “It’s knocking everyone sick locally. Everywhere in the country will have something like this, you’re just not hearing about it.”

As far as I see it, this is yet another reason to keep my ass in America.
