Border Patrol Chief for California’s El Centro sector Gregory Bovino delivered a message Thursday on Fox News to illegal migrants, saying there is “no sanctuary anywhere” after agents conducted a raid in Sacramento.

Fox News’ Bill Melugin joined California Border Patrol agents Thursday in south Sacramento, where officials made over 10 arrests. Speaking with Bovino outside of California’s capitol building, the border chief addressed the state’s sanctuary status following a judge’s decision to halt deportations in Los Angeles and surrounding cities. “There is no sanctuary city. Sacramento is not a sanctuary city. The state of California is not a sanctuary state,” Bovino said. “There is no sanctuary anywhere. We’ll be here. You’ll probably see us in many of the locations as well. We’re here to stay. We’re not going anywhere. We’re going to effect this mission and secure the homeland.”

Melugin had previously described the ride-along with federal officials to Baier, stating that Border Patrol agents had “pulled up to a local Home Depot” as “suspected illegal immigrants” were seen attempting to flee the scene. After several pursuits, Border Patrol told Melugin that “record checks came back already on one of those men, showing he’s a felon with a prior conviction for fentanyl trafficking.”

The Fox News correspondent also highlighted that a U.S. citizen was among those arrested, showing agents tackling him to the ground after he allegedly slashed the tire of a federal vehicle.

“Agents eventually took him to the ground, where he appeared to lunge at one of the agents, causing him to get maced in the face and placed under arrest,” Melugin said. “As he was arrested, his wife was shouting that he’s a U.S. citizen. Agents responded, ‘Well, too bad, because he slashed our tire.'”

Biden-appointed U.S. District Judge Maame Ewusi-Mensah Frimpong ordered the Trump administration on Saturday to stop immigration raids in Los Angeles and nearby cities, extending up to the state’s Central District. However, federal agents had conducted their arrests within the Eastern District of California.

In April, Biden-appointed U.S. District Judge Jennifer L. Thurston barred Border Patrol agents from arresting or stopping migrants without having reasonable suspicion, with the order applying only to those within the Eastern District of the state.

However, according to Melugin, officials stated that the arrests outside of the Home Depot were in accordance with the state’s order.

“They conducted two days of surveillance on the Home Depot, running license plates that came back to previously deported illegal immigrants, giving them a suspicion that aliens would be present there. Then, when they arrived in Border Patrol marked vests, those who immediately fled from them without a word being spoken gave them probable cause,” Melugin posted on X.
