ROOKE: Texas Shooting Follows Wave Of Violent Rhetoric America Was Fed

dailycaller.com

Authorities accused a man of shooting at immigration officers and police Monday. This incident follows leftists and the media aiming months of violent rhetoric at the Trump administration’s policies.

Americans have been fed a steady diet of dangerous imagery equating the Trump administration and ICE agents to Nazis and authoritarian goons for months. Democrats and the media claimed these agents are tearing families apart and sending innocent “Maryland men” off to brutal prisons in El Salvador at the behest of their supreme leader: President Donald Trump.

Authorities accused Ryan Mosqueda of shooting at Border Patrol agents and local police arriving at an annex facility in Texas while armed with a rifle and tactical gear. Two officers and a Border Patrol employee were injured — including one shot in the knee — and transported to the hospital, according to a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesperson. Law enforcement shot and killed the suspect on the scene. (Sign up for Mary Rooke’s weekly newsletter here!)

Authorities believe the shooting was an intentional attack on border officials, according to Fox News.

Border Czar Tom Homan warned lawmakers earlier Monday morning that rhetoric targeting ICE may lead to violence. Democrats have reportedly admitted some of their voters want to see violent action in response to Trump’s deportation plans.

Back in June, under the cover of anonymity, a House Democrat claimed “a number of us have been told by constituents that we have to be willing to get shot” while visiting ICE facilities in order to “make news out of it.”

“Our own base is telling us that what we’re doing is not good enough … [that] there needs to be blood to grab the attention of the press and the public,” another lawmaker said, according to an Axios report published the same day Mosqueda allegedly opened fire on Border Patrol agents and local law enforcement.

House Democrats told Axios they noticed “a growing anger” within their base demanding that elected officials do more to counter Trump, with one adding that they feel like they can’t “keep following norms of decorum.” Democrats told the outlet that many have become disinterested in rule of law and political traditions in the wake of the new administration’s policies.

Democrats like California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass have criticized ICE agents for wearing masks. Masks shield the agents’ identity from any who may wish them harm — removing them would only add fuel to the ever-growing fire. The Los Angeles riots make that much clear. There may be more deaths and violence if Democrats do not do something about the fringe.
