Hoover Institution Senior Fellow Victor Davis Hanson said Tuesday on his podcast that he believes if Iran were to kill Americans in retaliation for the U.S. strike then President Donald Trump would send every Iranian with a green card or tourist visa back “home.”

Following the U.S. strike on three Iranian nuclear weapons program sites Saturday, concerns about possible retaliation on U.S. soil began circulating online. While discussing Trump’s decision to hit back, Hanson told co-host Jack Fowler on “The Victor Davis Hanson Show” that he doubted Iran would attack Americans domestically due to the severe consequences it would bring. “The question is, what will Iran do? It’s sort of like the Straits of Hormuz, and the U.S. Navy can handle the Straits of Hormuz. Terrorist enclave,” Hanson said. “If they kill, if there’s — I hope that doesn’t happen because if you have some Iranian terrorists that start killing Americans in the United States, you know what Trump will do.”

“He’ll just say ‘Everybody that’s got a green card or a tourist visa from Iran, I don’t care. You’re going home.’ And he will expel the whole diplomatic corps. You’ll get rid of all of them. He’ll shut down all the Iranian nationals that are [in] it,” Hanson added. “So that’s not gonna happen. I don’t think that’s gonna happen.”

Prior to Trump’s decision to strike Iran, two U.S. officials told NBC News Sunday that Iran previously threatened to activate sleeper cells within America.

Following the strike, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a “National Terrorism Advisory System Bulletin” addressing the “heightened threat environment,” though it said there are currently no “specific credible threats against the homeland.”

“It is our duty to keep the nation safe and informed, especially during times of conflict,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said in the release. “The ongoing Israel-Iran conflict brings the possibility of increased threat to the homeland in the form of possible cyberattacks, acts of violence, and antisemitic hate crimes.”

Two days after the strike, Iran retaliated by hitting the Al Udeid U.S. Air Base in Qatar, with Trump saying there were no U.S. casualties and only minimal damage, as the foreign country warned him ahead of time.

By Monday evening, Trump announced on Truth Social that Israel and Iran agreed to a ceasefire, ending the war that began June 12.

By Tuesday, however, Israel fired back after Iran reportedly launched a missile following the start of the ceasefire. While speaking to reporters on the White House lawn, Trump called out both countries, saying they didn’t know “what the fuck they’re doing.”
