‘I’ll Fight Until The Bitter F***ing End’: Johnny Depp Says He Risked It All To Expose Truth In Amber Heard Trial
Johnny Depp said he risked it all for the truth in his infamous court case against Amber Heard in an interview published Saturday.
The Depp v. Heard case mesmerized millions as it was live-streamed from court but, for Depp, it signified the unraveling of many of his most personal experiences, according to an interview with The Sunday Times. Depp sued Heard for libel over a December 2018 column she wrote for The Washington Post. In June 2022, a jury ruled in favor of Depp, saying he was a victim of defamation and awarding him approximately $15 million in damages. The famous actor told the publication he won in court but had to risk his personal and professional reputation to get to the finish line.
“Look, it had gone far enough,” Depp told The Times. “I knew I’d have to semi-eviscerate myself. ”

Depp’s legal battle exposed a number of alleged personal exchanges between the former couple that didn’t paint either of them in a good light but the actor said he accepted it for the sake of setting the record straight.
“Everyone was saying, ‘It’ll go away!’ But I can’t trust that. What will go away? The fiction pawned around the fucking globe? No it won’t!” Depp told The Times.
“If I don’t try to represent the truth it will be like I’ve actually committed the acts I am accused of. And my kids will have to live with it. Their kids. Kids that I’ve met in hospitals,” he said.

Depp described how he felt going into the courtroom to put put his life on public display.
“So the night before the trial in Virginia I didn’t feel nervous,” he said.
“If you don’t have to memorize lines, if you’re just speaking the truth? Roll the dice,” Depp told The Times.
“Look, none of this was going be easy, but I didn’t care. I thought, ‘I’ll fight until the bitter fucking end.’ And if I end up pumping gas? That’s all right. I’ve done that before.”

Depp expressed his frustration toward many people he had worked with professionally. “And my loyalty is the last thing anybody should question. I was with one agent for 30 years, but she she spoke in court about how difficult I was,” he told The Times.
“That’s death by confetti, these fake motherfuckers who lie to you, celebrate you, say all sorts of horror behind your back, yet keep the money — that confetti machine going — because what do they want? Dough,” he said.
“I’ll tell you what hurts,” he said. “There are people, and I’m thinking of three, who did me dirty. Those people were at my kids’ parties. Throwing them in the air. And, look, I understand people who could not stand up [for me], because the most frightening thing to them was making the right choice,” Depp said.

“And I sponged it, took it all in. And so I wanted from the hundreds of people I’ve met in that industry to see who was playing it safe.” The famous actor continued. “Better go woke!”
In spite of it all, Depp said, “I have no regrets about anything — because, truly, what can we do about last week’s dinner? Not a fucking thing.”
