LOFTUS: Trump Might Be Sitting On A Tinderbox That Could Derail Presidency

dailycaller.com

Amid an international crisis, President Donald Trump might be sitting on a tinderbox at home.

Since Trump’s election in November, the left has largely been confused and rudderless, and outside the brief wave of protests launched against Elon Musk and DOGE, bickering amongst each other on how to rebuild the Democratic Party’s platform. For the first time, however, the left seems to have finally gelled around a fraught political issue: the Trump administration’s ICE raids and the president’s use of federal power. (Subscribe to MR. The No Kings protests were best described as “ugly,” though despite the chaos, violence, and tasteless political signs that inundated American streets, a new poll offers a snapshot of the movement’s latent power.

According to a YouGov survey released Monday, 49% of Americans approved of the protests that took numerous American cities by storm over the weekend, while 35% disapproved.  Ahead of the protests, 45% approved, compared to 37%

Tellingly, the poll found that 47% of independents approved of the protests.

The last thing Trump needs is a war in the Middle East. If he lets the United States get dragged into yet another conflict that does not serve our national interests, and orders direct military involvement, he is handing the left a golden opportunity to unite.

With war in Iran, the No Kings protests will only grow, and Trump will have to deal with another riotous summer, akin to the 2020 BLM riots. It won’t just be a headache. More waves of unrest might very well derail his presidency, and give Democrats all the momentum going into the midterm elections.
