Grizzlies’ Ja Morant Throws Criticism At Stephen A. Smith For Ripping Memphis As Unsafe

I mean … Stephen A. ain’t wrong.
The Memphis Grizzlies recently traded star shooting guard Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic, and in the aftermath, a lot of people were skeptical about the franchise’s decision potentially being a sign that they were about to through a 100% rebuild. And not just that, but if Morant could be moved out of Memphis as well.
For a little bit, Morant wasn’t involved with anything in terms of the conversation regarding his time with the Grizzlies and if it could be nearing an end, but the superstar couldn’t avoid jumping in after ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith made his comments Tuesday on “First Take.”
“Should the Memphis Grizzlies move on from Ja Morant?” read the bottom of the broadcast, leading to a question from Smith to co-host Marcus Morris if he was going to explain “why nobody wants to be in Memphis.” (RELATED: Bucks’ Doc Rivers Criticizes Democratic Party For Not Doing ‘Some Things Republicans Do Well’)
Later, Smith brought up how Memphis is unsafe and how NBA players don’t want to go there as a result.
“The people in Memphis, it’s a great sports town, great fans, great people, but there’s an element there where cats like Jimmy Butler and others don’t feel like it’s the safest environment,” said Smith. “I’m talking to the local authorities in Memphis. You’ve got to clean some of that stuff up because it’s dissuasive to NBA players. They have talked about it. I know, they’ve told me. That’s all I’m saying.”
Well, that didn’t make Morant happy. He went to Twitter with a couple of posts and it was quite clear who he was talking about.
instead of focusing on the performances we seen from jdub/shai , tj/siakam, how this series is going . we say sumn negative about a city/team on a national level.
