Hugh Hewitt Says Striking One Or More Parts Of Iran ‘Will Secure’ Trump’s ‘Place In History As A Peacemaker’

Radio host Hugh Hewitt said Tuesday on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” that he believes if President Donald Trump were to destroy Iran’s nuclear program then Trump would “secure his place in history as a peacemaker.”
After tensions between Israel and Iran kicked off following Israel’s preemptive strikes at dozens of military targets in Iran, discussions of the U.S. joining in on the war quickly began Sunday. While discussing the continuing war, guest host Brian Kilmeade asked the radio host if he believes the president has already decided to join in and strike Iran.
“I hope so. I think all the signals indicate that his last meeting in the Situation Room was a confirming meeting that he will join Israel in striking at least Fordow, as well as any other parts of the nuclear program in Iran that cannot be reached by Israeli munitions,” Hewitt said.
“I believe the B-2s can get there. We also have sent the nuclear-sniffing aircraft over there in the event that there’s any release of radioactive material from Fordow after it’s bombed,” Hewitt said. “I hope he does.”
Crossfire between the two foreign countries has continued since Thursday, with Israel taking out some of Iran’s top military leaders and heavily damaging their nuclear sites. Upon the first strike from Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released an over seven minute video confirming the “Rising Lion” operation, in which the country would work to take out the “threat” of Iran’s nuclear weapon program. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Thursday that the U.S. was not involved in the initial strikes from Israel. By Sunday, however, Trump said U.S. involvement in the war could be a possibility. On Monday the president took to Truth Social, writing that everyone should “immediately evacuate Tehran” and adding that Iran “can not have a nuclear weapon.”
“I think it will secure his place in history as a peacemaker, because after the nuclear program is dismantled, and he has said for 10 years they may not have a nuke. He said it last night. He said it 10 years ago when he came down the escalator. He’d been consistent. They may not have a nuke. After it’s destroyed, he’ll go into the history books as a great peacemaker,” Hewitt added.
With Trump holding meetings in the situation room with his National Security Council, some Republicans and Democrats have strongly opposed the president’s tease at getting the U.S. involved in the Israel-Iran conflict.
On Tuesday, Republican Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie introduced a resolution to block Trump from joining Israel to launch military strikes on Iran. Massie joined a group of Democrat colleagues led by Democrat California Rep. Ro Khanna.
