Baseball is full of oddities. They’re part of what makes the game great. Whether that’s the old bullpen carts (RIP), weird rules about the ball getting stuck in the wall, or nonstop cheating scandals.

But Baseball United may have just introduced the greatest oddity the game has ever seen: the Bullpen Camel.

What is Baseball United? I’m glad you asked. But we will get to that shortly. First, however, I need to make sure that you read that correctly. THEY HAVE A BULLPEN CAMEL.

What Is Baseball United, And Why Does It Have A Bullpen Camel?

So, back to that earlier question.

According to its official website, Baseball United is the first-ever baseball league in South and West Asia. It has backing from several former MLB legends, including Hall of Famers Mariano Rivera, Barry Larkin, and Adrian Beltre.

For the time being, the league features just four teams: The Mumbai Cobras, Karachi Monarchs, Arabia Wolves (Riyadh), and Mid East Falcons (Abu Dhabi).

The league also features a unique rule, the Moneyball, which allows the batting team to score double the amount of runs batted in during a single play.

So, onto the second question. Why do they have a bullpen camel?

I couldn’t seem to find that answer anywhere. But I’m not mad at it!

For years, MLB fans have cried out for the return of bullpen carts. But what if teams had their own unique bullpen system of travel? Tell me you wouldn’t enjoy seeing the Houston Astros relievers trying to get to the mound on a rodeo bull?

Yeah, that’s what I thought.

For now, however, we have only the bullpen camel. And for that reason and that reason alone, I have now been sucked into learning more about Baseball United. Well played…
