LPGA Player Explains Clever Reason Why Event Only Gives Leased Lambo For Hole-In-One

27-year-old Brooke Matthews doesn’t have a ton of experience on the LPGA Tour. The former Arkansas Razorbacks star first earned her LPGA Tour card for the 2022 season, but didn’t qualify as a full-time member again until 2025.
She played in a career-high 23 events this past season, scoring a pair of top-10 finished and eight finishes in top 25. But, by far, her most memorable moment came over the weekend at Annika at Pelican Golf Club in Florida.

Not only did Matthews finish in a tie for ninth, securing her spot in the LPGA Tour Championship for the first time, she also recorded her first career hole-in-one as a pro.
“It was probably the craziest moment of my life, honestly,” Matthews said of the shot. “It was 140 (yards). I had a 9-iron. It one-hopped on the left hill and went in, and I still can’t believe it. That was my first ever hole-in-one, so it was a pretty special moment. And then, the chip in (for eagle on 14), I was like, ‘What’s going on?’ I was really just trying to settle my heart rate. I was like, ‘I can’t believe I have to play more holes.’”
Brooke Matthews Hole-In-One Came With An Added BonusNot only was the hole-in-one integral to Matthews’ top-10 finish and advancement to the Tour Championship. But it also won her a new car.
Sort of.
Matthews’ ace won her a two-year lease on a Lamborghini Urus, courtesy of hole sponsor Morgan Automotive.
However, golf fans felt Matthews got a raw deal
“I would be pissed if I thought I won a Lambo and they like ‘Actuallyyyyy you get to drive it for 2 years still gotta pay insurance and you can only put 1500 miles on it,'” one fan said.
“You shouldn’t be allowed to display a car on the tee box unless the player actually WINS it for a hole-in-one. None of this lease business,” said another.
But there’s a good reason for it!
First year 4 players won the car, no one wanted it because of high taxes and insurance, that’s why they changed it! https://t.co/csichcqpdy

Fellow LPGA Tour player Jenny Shin posted on X, explaining that in the first year of the promotion, four players won the car. However, because of the high taxes on the luxury vehicle and insurance, nobody wanted it!
Shin explained that the lease program allows Morgan Automotive to cover the insurance, making the car a more feasible prize for players who make a hole-in-one.
A cash prize is also on offer, but as Shin explains, the sponsor gets far more value if the player is actually seen driving the car. They want them to take the car!
So, while it may seem like Brooke Matthews got a raw deal here, it actually worked out for the best. And now she gets to take home a new Lambo AND she guaranteed herself a spot on the 2026 LPGA Tour.
