The leftist media, whether it’s the result of a known anti-patriotic agenda, or it’s even better known anti-Trump agenda, is complaining about the celebration of the 250th birthday of the great American experiment on this July 4th.

The whine was documented by the American Center for Law and Justice, which cited the Washington Post’s complaint.

“Even celebrating our independence gets negative coverage by the mainstream media – especially if its being celebrated by the Trump administration,” the ACLJ said.

The Post, in a lengthy comment, complained that the fireworks planned in the National Mall in Washington “are expected to cause hazardous levels of pollution around the National Mall and ‘very unhealthy’ conditions in central D.C.”

It cited internal National Park Service papers.

“The show, billed by the Trump administration as the largest pyrotechnic display in history, will include some 850,000 fireworks in a roughly 40-minute show expected to start at 10:30 p.m. or 11 p.m., according to organizers. President Donald Trump will speak as part of the event, which marks the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence,” the Post said.

“The combustion from large fireworks displays typically causes significant pollution because it generates fine particulate matter, also known as PM2.5. These small particles can penetrate deep into the heart and lungs, causing irritation and in some cases asthma attacks and other illnesses,” the Post said. “A draft air-quality analysis, based on the National Park Service’s modeling, states that people should ‘avoid prolonged exposure’ to the pollution around the Mall.”

The Post then added, “Fireworks contain metals, such as copper, that help to create their vibrant colors but are hazardous to breathe when they enter the air, [George] Thurston said. People with respiratory conditions can stay inside during the fireworks display and wait for the wind to blow away the smoke, he said.”

The ACLJ reported, “Leave it to the Left-leaning mainstream media to try to rain on our Fourth of July parade.

“First and foremost, no one is arguing that fireworks don’t have an adverse effect on the air quality in the immediate vicinity where they’re set off. In fact, that’s a no-brainer. The Washington Post might as well print another exclusive that it may be hard to breathe if you’re underwater too long.”

And it continued, “We celebrate this event once a year. And for the 249 years since we declared independence, we’ve used incendiary devices to mark the birth of our country and pay tribute to the battles that were fought to secure our freedom. When they first read the Declaration of Independence in New York, they fired cannons into the air. There’s even a line in our national anthem that mentions ‘bombs bursting in air.’

“But suddenly this year, under this administration, the media is making an issue out of it. And worse, they’re trying to scare people away from celebrating our country. They can’t just allow those of us who love this country to have a wonderful celebration without trying to tear it down. It feels like just another play in their weird ‘anti-Trump’ playbook. First, they had a fit over the ballroom. Then they went after the reflecting pool. Now it’s our Independence Day celebration.”
