TAMPA, Florida – A Florida candidate for U.S. Congress with a passionate disdain for Donald Trump is raising eyebrows with a photo himself sporting the numbers “86 47” on his hat and front license plate, a number which some see as a threat to kill the 47th president.

“Meet Mark Davis. He’s running for Congress in Florida,” says LibsofTikTok which is sharing the photo online. “He proudly posed with an ‘8647’ hat and license plate which signifies killing Trump. He says it’s not just merch, it’s a ‘mission.’

“Extremely alarming,” LibsofTikTok continued. “What does he mean when he says 8647 is a ‘mission’?”

Reaction online is not sympathetic to Davis, who officially has no party affiliation.

“Mark Davis has committed a felony and posted it online to make prosecuting him easy,” said Paul A. Szypula. “What a dummy.”

Brad Deason noted: “You’ve been caught and called out. Your political career just ended because you wanted to be a tough guy on the internet. You’re too stupid to be in Congress and that’s saying a lot.”

Another stated: “This f***ing clown called for the assassination of @realDonaldTrump. The @FBI and @FBIDirectorKash needs to start the f***ing crackdown already.”

Davis is unapologetic about using the four controversial numerals, with his own website saying: “You can always call Mark at (866) 212-8647.”

Davis on Tuesday defended his strategy, saying: “86 47 means Remove Donald Trump, dumbasses. Your GOP is the only party openly threatening political harm. They’re the only ones with a president who’s threatened American politicians on American soil.”

Responding to the remark about his being “too stupid to be in Congress,” Davis said: “Dude, I’ve been posting 8647. My profile name was 8647 for the longest time. I’ve been posting it for months. Finally a picture went viral so now I’m getting tons and tons more followers so, win.”

The “86 47” theme gained national attention last summer after former FBI Director James Comey said he found a shell formation in the sand spelling out those numbers, as WorldNetDaily reported.

Peter Schorsch of Florida Politics analyzed Davis’ campaign, writing: “Every so often, a candidate comes along who blends audacity with incompetence so seamlessly you almost have to admire the craftsmanship.”

Schorsch says Davis is portraying himself as a Democrat, “Except for one important detail. Mark Davis is not a Democrat.

“Filings with both the Federal Elections Commission and Florida Supervisor of Elections show, in black and white, that Davis is registered as No Party Affiliation (NPA). In other words, he’s lying.”

“But Davis doesn’t stop at simple misrepresentation – he goes for the deluxe package. He’s actively raising money on ActBlue, a platform that explicitly restricts access to Democrats. ActBlue’s rules aren’t complicated: If you’re independent or undeclared, and there’s a Democrat in the race, you’re not allowed. Davis is an independent. Democrats are in the race.

“Let’s be honest: Davis’s campaign was over before it began. Every cycle we see the same parade of gadflies who file paperwork, launch a website, and pretend they’re running for Congress. Normally we just smile, nod, and move on.

“But Davis isn’t just blurring lines, he’s redrawing them in crayon. And when a candidate has to invent his party affiliation just to stay relevant, the campaign stops being a campaign and starts being community theater.”

Davis and his wife Sarah moved from Wisconsin to Florida, and say online that “as the country started shifting – faster, louder, darker – we felt a calling. Not to run, but to rise. This isn’t just a website. It’s our line in the sand.

“Mark’s voice has become a rallying cry: exposing corruption, challenging the machine, and building a movement grounded in truth, justice, and unshakable conviction. This isn’t about politics – it’s about defending what’s sacred before it’s lost.

“Sarah is the soul of this mission. She’s the quiet strength, the sharp mind, the unwavering anchor. Every word we say, every stand we take, is rooted in the life we’ve built together – and in the future we refuse to surrender. We’re not here to play nice with power.”
