Teen Mob Terrorizes Fireworks Celebration, Injuries Reported - Todd Starnes

A mob of teenagers caused mayhem and violence Thursday night after the fireworks celebration in Bartlett, Tennessee, a suburb of Memphis. There were reports of several injuries among innocent bystanders.
KWAM News Radio in Memphis obtained several videos of the incidents at the event and at nearby businesses including McDonald’s and Kroger. Watch below and be sure to click here to get my breaking news alerts delivered to your inbox.
The Bartlett Police Dept. confirmed to KWAM that officers “responded to a group of juveniles discharging fireworks near the crowd.”
“These actions startled some attendees, causing portions of the crowd to run from the area out of concern,” a police department spokesperson told KWAM.
Police did not say if anyone was arrested, nor did they confirm reports that several spectators had been injured.
“Officers responded immediately, dispersed the individuals involved, restored order and remained on scene to ensure the continued safety of everyone in attendance,” the spokesperson added.
A number of residents posted their eyewitness accounts of what happened on social media feeds and community groups.
“I think last night did me in for going to Bartlett fireworks ever again,” one eyewitness wrote. “Two stampedes and then someone firing off a firework inside McDonald’s.. all of which had me shaking so bad I couldn’t stop. It’s always the kids that have no home training that ruins the nice stuff we have.”
“It was terrifying. We were sitting there and all of a sudden mass crowd of people running and screaming came towards us,” one eyewitness wrote on Facebook. “Literally had to lay on top of my two and a half year old to keep him from being trampled. They trampled over all of our stuff. Happened a second time walking back to the car.”
Another eyewitness reported people being knocked out of their chairs by the teenage thugs.
“I know me and many others wanted to take their shoe off and beat some kids,” one resident wrote on Facebook. “It’s still inexcusable and something needs to change.
The police department noted that there were thousands of people in attendance and the overwhelming number of spectators were law-abiding and there were with their families to enjoy the celebration.
“Incidents like this also serve as a reminder of the important role parents and guardians play in teaching young people appropriate behavior and respect for others in public settings,” the spokesman said. “Community celebrations should be enjoyable for everyone, and responsible supervision is essential to helping keep these events safe.”
One eyewitness reported people being trampled as a mob of between 75-100 teenagers, mostly boys, rampaged across the area.
“After last night I’ll never be in that area again on the 4th. Just a matter of time before the whole thing gets cancelled for good,” one resident wrote.
Video also showed a heavy police presence at a nearby Kroger. One eyewitness said the mob tried to storm the grocery store, but the manager locked the door and police quickly moved in to protect shoppers.
“It’s just not safe anymore, anywhere it seems,” one resident wrote on social media. “What should have been a fun, family-centered event could have turned out much, much worse.”
