A group of young men had just finished celebrating Independence Day by watching fireworks when they noticed a house was on fire as they were walking home.
They immediately took action, running to the home and breaking down the doors and then rushing inside, calling out for anyone who might be there and unable to escape.
They ended up saving the lives of an entire family, including an elderly couple.
From WMTV News, via MSN:
A group of friends broke down a door and ran into a burning home on Rodney Drive in the Town of Lodi on the Fourth of July, helping people inside escape before firefighters arrived.
Lodi Fire was dispatched around 10:45 p.m. Saturday to the home, which caught fire from what the department described as heavy use of fireworks in the area.
Crews were aware two people could be inside when the call came in. The group of 19- and 20-year-olds had already entered the home and helped get the occupants out unharmed before firefighters reached the scene.
The group had spent the day on the water and was hanging out at one of their houses, located just across the street from the home that caught fire. While sitting in the garage, they noticed something across the street.
“The back of the house was all red and smoky, and we’re like, that’s not a bonfire,” said Gavin Klahn.
“And then we noticed all the orange and we thought it was a huge bonfire. And then we walked around back and then realized that it was a huge fire,” said Reese Romens, who lives across the street.
The group split up, banging on windows and working to get inside from the front and back of the home.
“Honestly, at that point, that was the only thing that crossed my mind, because we need to get these people out and they need to be safe before anything else gets done,” said Rhylan Nehls.

Someone should tell President Trump about this story.
These young men deserve a visit to the White House for their actions and bravery.
