England captain Harry Kane has described playing golf with President Donald Trump as a “pretty surreal experience,” while praising the president’s golf game after the pair played together in Florida.

The round took place around 18 months ago in Palm Beach after Trump invited the Bayern Munich striker to join him.

“So when the President invites you somewhere, it was a pretty surreal experience just to meet him and obviously play golf with him,” Kane told reporters ahead of England’s World Cup quarter-final against Norway.

Kane said he was impressed by Trump’s golf game, despite the president being 80 years old.

“His golf is pretty good, to be honest with you. I hope I can play golf as good as him when I’m his age, that’s for sure.

”A unique experience, but I was just grateful that he invited me to play.”

Earlier this week, Trump spoke about the round while praising Kane.

“I think Kane is a great player. I played golf with him and I like him a lot. He’s a good golfer too. He’s really great,” Trump said.

Following England’s 3-2 World Cup victory over Mexico, Trump also posted on Truth Social: “Harry Kane of England is a GREAT player!!!”

The comments come as Kane prepares to lead England into its World Cup quarter-final against Norway.

He has already scored six goals over the course of the tournament against the likes of Croatia, Panama, DR Congo, and Mexico.
