Six people were injured in a stabbing spree at New York’s Penn Station on Sunday evening ahead of President Trump’s attendance at Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden, which is attached to Penn Station.
What a way to welcome the President to the once great city?
One person, who police believe has mental health issues, has been taken into custody, according to NBC.
Amtrak said in a statement, “Earlier this afternoon, Amtrak Police responded to a reported stabbing at New York Penn Station. The suspect has been apprehended, and an investigation is underway.”
Emergency crews were seen responding with stretchers to provide emergency care to victims. At least one person reportedly sustained serious injuries.
One New Jersey Resident, who says he was in town for the weekend, said, “Hearing all these stabbings and everything going on here, that’s awful.”
“It just makes me kind of unsafe, makes me feel like I don’t want to come here no more,” he added.

Add this to the long list of violent crimes committed in New York’s transit system.
A string of horrifying recent incidents includes a man being set on fire in March, a shooting that killed a man on a Bronx subway platform in February, and another man being set on fire in December. And who can forget about the woman who was set on fire inside a New York City subway car by a Guatemalan illegal alien just days before Christmas in 2024?
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani responded to the “horrific stabbing,” confirming that six people were stabbed and the “alleged perpetrator” has been arrested. He described the incident as “unacceptable violence.”
I’ve been briefed on the horrific stabbing at Penn Station. Based on the information available right now, six people were stabbed and the alleged perpetrator is in custody following a swift response from the Amtrak Police Department.
My heart is with everyone who was injured, their loved ones, and all those shaken by this unacceptable violence. I’m wishing each of the victims a full and speedy recovery.
I’m grateful to the Amtrak Police Department and the first responders who acted quickly to apprehend the suspect and provide emergency care.
There are currently no impacts to Amtrak service. My administration is in contact with Amtrak officials as they investigate this incident.

Ironically, Mamdani, just days ago, posed for a photo walking out of the 34th Street-Penn Station subway station. Unlike the other peasant New Yorkers, he had security.
