Ukrainian forces struck a major Russian oil storage facility located more than 700 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, marking one of the deepest attacks inside Russian territory in recent months.
President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that swarms of drones struck an oil depot in Russia’s Yaroslavl region overnight, targeting a facility that is part of the country’s state reserve system.
“Ukraine is carrying out its plan of long-range sanctions against Russia and the assigned tasks regarding mid-range strikes in response to Russia’s refusal to end this war,” he wrote on X.
The facility stores gasoline, diesel fuel, and other petroleum products used to maintain strategic fuel supplies.
Our warriors have achieved good results in applying long-range sanctions against important facilities on the territory of Russia and in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

The operation was part of a broader wave of long-range strikes that reportedly forced air raid alerts across 28 Russian regions and led to temporary flight restrictions at several airports.
Among Ukraine’s overnight attacks on Russia’s military and energy assets was the vast strategic energy storage complex in Rybinsk, in Russia’s Yaroslavl Region.

Ukraine also reported striking the Azot chemical plant in Russia’s Tula region. Officials said the facility is linked to the production of materials used in explosives manufacturing.
The attack is the latest in a sustained Ukrainian campaign targeting Russian energy infrastructure far from the front lines.
In recent months, Kyiv has claimed responsibility for strikes against oil depots, pumping stations, refineries, and export facilities across Russia.
Russian authorities have not released a full assessment of the damage or detailed their plans for retaliation.
