A viral hoax targeting Eric Trump claims that former UFC star and UFC commentator Eric Cormier posted, then deleted alleged screenshots of messages from Eric Trump attempting to make money off of “rigged” UFC Freedom 250 matches during last night’s UFC card.

The screenshots, which Trump and Cormier say are “fake” purport to show Trump asking Cormier, “Anything you can tell me about the fighters tomorrow? Who you got winning?”, “You placing any bets?”, and “Are any of the fighters injured that you know of?”

Ultimately, the screenshot claims Trump wrote, “I’ll just cut to the chase. Are any of the fights tomorrow rigged? I’ve been eyeing the Lopes fight and I think an upset wouldn’t be too unrealistic. $$.”

“No none of our fights rigged and honestly I am appalled that you would even ask me something like that,” Cormier is shown writing back.

Cormier writes in the supposedly deleted post, “I’m probably going to get a lot of flak for bringing this to light, however I refuse to stay silent. The UFC is a sport that I am deeply passionate about. I will not tolerate this type of insider behavior. Shame on anyone trying to ruin this beautiful event.”

Both Eric Trump and Cormier responded to the would-be scandal, denying it.

Trump later called it “fake, AI generated screenshots,” adding, “I have never spoken to Daniel. He has since deleted his post, which confirms it was clearly fabricated.”

Daniel Cormier also responded to the rumor, writing, “Are people really this dumb?”

Trump further told the Wall Street Journal’s Brian Schwartz, “That is absolutely not me. I didn’t even know who the guy was… This is some kind of AI spoof. This is crazy.”

“Eric Trump tells me he just spoke to Cormier at the UFC fight at the White House and the veteran fighter, Trump says, claimed ‘he didn’t put it out that that was a fake,’” Schwartz said on X.  Photo of author Jordan Conradson Jordan Conradson is The Gateway Pundit's White House correspondent.
