Border Czar Tom Homan is standing steadfast against any attempts to tear down the Administration’s efforts to deport dangerous illegal aliens, even if the attacks come from people who share his faith.
As The New York Times reported, the United States’ Conference of Bishops sharply rebuked the Trump Administration over its mass deportation policy of illegals during the bishops’ annual conference in Baltimore.
In a statement, the bishops slammed the Trump Administration for creating “a climate of fear,” vilifying illegals, and not granting lawbreakers access to pastoral care.
They also whined about migrants losing their legal status.
“We are disturbed when we see among our people a climate of fear and anxiety around questions of profiling and immigration enforcement,” the statement read. “We are concerned by the state of contemporary debate and the vilification of immigrants. We are concerned about the conditions in detention centers and the lack of access to pastoral care.”
“We lament that some immigrants in the United States have arbitrarily lost their legal status,” the statement continued. “We are troubled by threats against the sanctity of houses of worship and the special nature of hospitals and schools.”
“We are grieved when we meet parents who fear being detained when taking their children to school and when we try to console family members who have already been separated from their loved ones.”
The statement overwhelmingly passed, with 216 anonymous votes in favor. Five bishops voted no, and three abstained.
Reporters asked Homan on Friday about the self-serving letter by the bishops. As expected, the Border Czar did not hold back.
Homan, a devout Catholic, perfectly stated what the letter meant: The bishops believe that if you enter America illegally, you can stay.
He then pointed out that the Catholic Church has far worse rules than the American government when uninvited guests try to enter their facilities, a hypocritical stance.
Homan closed by saying the Church should mind its own business and fix its issues instead of worrying about immigration enforcement.

HOMAN: So, according to them, the message we should send to the whole world is that if you cross the border illegally, which is a crime, don’t worry about it.
If you get ordered to be removed by a federal judge after due process, don’t worry about it because there shouldn’t be mass deportations.
Is that the message we should send to the whole world?
You can’t enter their facilities without getting arrested. The penalties for entering their facilities are much worse than ours.
Secure borders save lives…I’m saying it not only as the border czar, I’ll say it as a Catholic, I think they need to spend time fixing the Catholic Church.
