The confirmation sparked a wave of controversy, with many questioning the president’s decision.

Belgium quickly attempted to appeal the red card suspension, but they were unsuccessful.

Fifa said in a statement that Belgium’s appeal saying that it “was rendered inadmissible on the grounds that the RBFA is not a party to the proceedings and, as such, has no standing to appeal the decision.”

Belgium responded to the ruling saying the team was “astonished.”

Belgium’s X account appeared to mock Trump’s efforts following their victory with a post that said: “Overturn this.”

Trump previously made a social media post on Monday, praising England’s Harry Kane, calling him a “GREAT player.”

Many US fans spoke up on social media, asking Trump to speak with Fifa once again to have the loss reversed.

“The officials were totally corrupt. Trump needs to call Gianni,” one fan said on social media.
