The collision occurred as the flight, which originated in Las Vegas, was approaching New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.
Days earlier, a United Airlines pilot narrowly avoided a similar collision with a drone in New Jersey, ABC affiliate WABC reported.
“We collided with a drone back there in the turn as we were coming to ASALT, just wanted to pass to you,” the pilot told an air traffic controller, per the outlet.
The pilot told air traffic control they did not need assistance and proceeded safely to landing.

The aircraft was removed from service for a post-flight inspection, which found no damage or evidence of a collision, the FAA said.
The agency has launched a full investigation.
Just three days earlier, a United Airlines pilot reported coming within 100 feet of a drone while landing at Newark Liberty International Airport, the FAA said in a statement.
“We almost hit a drone,” the pilot said in audio obtained by CNN.

“About a hundred feet below us.”
The pilot told air traffic control the drone was circular and roughly three feet wide.
“United Flight 1513 reported a potential drone sighting prior to arriving in Newark. The flight landed safely, and customers deplaned normally at the gate,” United Airlines said in a statement to People.
The FAA, which receives more than 100 drone sighting reports near airports every month, told the outlet it is investigating.
“We want to send a clear message that operating drones around airplanes, helicopters, and airports is dangerous and illegal,” the FAA said.
“Unauthorized operators are subject to fines and criminal charges, including possible jail time.”
