Say goodbye to three Apple locations as stores to close forever on June 20

A MAJOR tech giant will close three brick-and-mortar stores later this month despite achieving record-breaking revenue.

Tech giant Apple will permanently close three retail locations later this month, citing declining conditions at the malls where the stores are found.
The stores that will close are located in Trumbull, Connecticut, Escondido, California, and Towson, Maryland.
All three stores will cease operations at the end of the day on June 20.
“At Apple, we are constantly striving to deliver exceptional service and great experiences for our customers,” Apple said in a statement to MacRumors.

“As we continue investing to expand and enhance our retail stores and offerings worldwide, we remain deliberate about evaluating our existing locations to ensure that we can meet our customers’ needs in the best way.”
“Following the departure of several retailers and declining conditions at Trumbull Mall, the Shops at North County, and Towson Town Center, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our stores at these locations,” the statement continues.
In Connecticut, the owner of the Trumbull Mall defaulted on a $150 million loan and put the property up for sale, according to MacRumors.
The Escondido, California store is located in the Mershops North County Mall, which was also sold amid declining conditions a few years ago, according to the Apple-focused outlet.

The Towson Town Center in Maryland announced that Banana Republic, Madewell, and Tommy Bahama are leaving the mall, MacRumors reported.
According to the statement from Apple, employees from the Trumbull and Mershops North County stores will be transferred to nearby Apple Store locations.
The staff at Apple Towson Town Center, which became Apple’s first retail employees in the US to unionize in 2022, will be eligible to apply for open roles at Apple “in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement” that was signed with Apple upon unionization, MacRumors reported.
The employees belong to The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Coalition of Organized Retail Employees (IAM CORE), which released a statement that it is “outraged” by Apple’s decision to close the Towson store and seeks legal options to hold Apple accountable.
“The IAM Union is outraged by Apple’s decision to close its Towson, Md., store–the first unionized Apple retail location in the United States–and abandon both its workers and a community that relies on it for critical services and its unique access to public transit,” reads the statement from the IAM Union.
“Apple’s claim that the collective bargaining agreement prevents relocation is simply false and raises serious concerns that this closure is a cynical attempt to bust the union.“
Apple responded, saying that it would transfer or rehire the employees if there was another store within 50 miles of the Towson Town Center, but the workers will instead receive severance as negotiated in the union contract, according to MacRumors.
Despite these strategic mall-retailer closures, Apple has opened 11 new stores since the start of 2025, including Miami and Detroit, and has plans to open its first store in Saudi Arabia.
