Video shows woman attacked, knocked unconscious on bus in Charlotte, NC
Newly released video shows the terrifying moments a woman was violently attacked and knocked unconscious on a CATS bus earlier this year.
The attack happened on April 10, 2026, at a bus stop along the 400 block of Centre Street in northwest Charlotte. Video released to Queen City News shows a man chasing a woman onto the bus before assaulting her. Police said the suspect repeatedly punched and kicked the 25-year-old woman until she lost consciousness, leaving her with serious injuries.
CATS officials said the woman boarded the bus seeking refuge from someone who was following her. The suspect then got on the bus, where a verbal argument escalated into a violent assault.
“The operator immediately called the police,” CATS Interim CEO Brent Cagle said back in April. “They were responding to that and that’s the exact protocol they needed to follow. They did exactly what they were supposed to do.”
According to CATS, the bus driver immediately called 911, but both the suspect and the victim left the bus before CMPD officers arrived.
