The U.S. military shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones Friday that were heading toward the Strait of Hormuz and posed an imminent threat to maritime traffic, according to the U.S. Central Command (Centcom).

The U.S. military then struck an Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites in Goruk, a city in Hormozgan province, and on Qeshm Island, an Iranian island in the Strait of Hormuz, to “defend against further attacks,” Centcom said.

“American forces remain vigilant and postured to respond to unjustified Iranian aggression in self-defense,” Centcom said.

The Trump administration has said it is in a ceasefire with Iran despite skirmishes with Tehran’s military on several occasions. On Tuesday, the U.S. military helped down multiple Iranian ballistic missiles and shot down several Tehran drones.

But President Trump warned earlier this week that if Iran kills U.S. troops, that would be a “good reason” to restart the war with Tehran.
