US military’s death toll rises to 14 in Iran war

The U.S. military’s death toll during the war against Iran has officially climbed to 14 following the death of a Navy pilot in a crash earlier this month.
The Pentagon updated its casualty count to 14 on Monday after the Navy identified the airman lost over the Arabian Sea last week. The airman, Cmdr. Gabriel Edwards, was the commanding officer of Helicopter Sea Combat (HSC) Squadron 5.
He went missing on July 1 after an MH-60S Seahawk helicopter made an emergency landing in the Arabian Sea.
After more than 100 hours of search-and-rescue efforts covering more than 14,000 square miles, the Navy suspended the search on July 5. Three other crew members were recovered after the landing in the Arabian Sea. The incident is under investigation.
More than 400 service members have been wounded since the beginning of the Iran war.
