President Donald Trump told a White House gathering Wednesday evening that he will nominate Todd Blanche to permanently serve as attorney general after a brief stint as the country’s acting chief prosecutor.

“Tomorrow I’m instructing Dan [Scavino] and everybody else that’s involved in that very complicated process, which is gonna go, I think, very quickly, that we are going to make him permanent Attorney General,” Trump told a Rose Garden Club Dinner.

Scavino, the deputy chief of staff, posted a video of Trump’s comments on his social media account.

Blanche, who was confirmed last year as deputy attorney general, was named on an acting basis to replace Pam Bondi when she stepped down as attorney general this spring.

Before that, he served as a private lawyer on Trump‘s defense team during the various lawfare attacks on the president in civil and criminal courts.
