Sen. Rick Scott: Must Investigate Jack Smith Perjury Claims

Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., told Newsmax on Tuesday that Congress must conduct a full investigation into former special counsel Jack Smith after newly released records raised questions about whether Smith misled lawmakers under oath about the scope of his investigation into their communications.
Appearing on Newsmax’s “Ed Henry The Big Take,” Scott said Smith should be held accountable if he falsely testified before Congress that his team did not review lawmakers’ text messages.
“We have to hold him accountable. We have to do a real investigation,” Scott said.
“If he didn’t do anything wrong, that’s fine. But it sure appears he lied to Congress.”
Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, released documents Tuesday that he said show Smith’s investigative team obtained and reviewed the text messages of more than 40 members of Congress and other individuals during its Jan. 6 investigation.
The records appear to conflict with Smith’s sworn testimony before the House Judiciary Committee in December, when he said investigators reviewed phone logs but did not examine the substance of lawmakers’ text messages.
