Rep. Addison McDowell: Trump Standing Up to Iran

Rep. Addison McDowell, R-N.C., said Wednesday that Iran must never be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons or develop ballistic missile capabilities, backing President Donald Trump’s approach following reports that Iran violated a ceasefire agreement.
Speaking on Newsmax’s “The Big Take” with Ed Henry, McDowell argued that Iran has repeatedly demonstrated it cannot be trusted with advanced military capabilities and praised the administration’s efforts to counter the Islamic Republic.
“Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. Iran cannot have ballistic missiles,” McDowell said.
“They cannot make ballistic missiles, and they cannot have a navy,” he added. The freshman congressman said preventing Iran from acquiring such capabilities remains a central objective of U.S. policy under Trump.
“That is what we are doing,” McDowell said. “We are ensuring that they never get that because they’ve proven again and again what they’ll do.”
McDowell warned that a nuclear-armed Iran or one possessing advanced missile technology would pose a direct threat to American military personnel and interests in the region.
“If they get that, they will kill American troops,” he said.
The U.S. military said Wednesday it has begun another round of strikes against Iran after Trump said more were coming.
The escalating attacks threatened to derail efforts to end the war, with Trump warning that Tehran would “pay the price” for stalled negotiations.
