House Republicans on Friday released the text of their proposed “clean” continuing resolution, which seeks to keep the federal government funded through November’s midterms.

Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters Thursday that he plans to put the legislation on the floor for a vote next week. The bill would temporarily extend current funding levels while lawmakers negotiate the fiscal 2027 appropriations bills.

The resolution would keep the government funded through Dec. 4, and does not include any unrelated provisions, according to Politico. It also does not include the SAVE America Act.

The proposal is, however, expected to face some backlash from Democrats because it does not cut funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers or provide any guardrails for the agency, despite two ICE-related shootings this month.

House Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole said the committee is attempting to take proactive measures to ensure the government does not see another shutdown this year. The House has only passed three appropriation bills so far.
