President Donald Trump is expected to depart from the White House soon to deliver what he teased would be a long speech at the National Mall’s Great American State Fair “Salute To America” Celebration, marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The National Mall is preparing a spectacular end to its Fourth of July festivities on Saturday after a heat wave caused organizers to postpone the event earlier in the day.

In the afternoon, guests from across the country watched flyovers and demonstrations along the mall and the Washington Monument from government agencies and military branches including:

  • The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA);
  • The United States Coast Guard (USCG);
  • The United States Army, including the Golden Knights;
  • The United States Navy, including the Leap Frogs and Blue Angels;
  • The United States Air Force (USAF), including the Thunderbirds;
  • The United States Marine Corps (USMC);
  • Air Force One.
  • The July 4th fair day features “a breathtaking display of patriotism, live performances, and a monumental fireworks show over the nation’s capital,” according to washington.org.

    The evening schedule will include a performance from the Joint Armed Forces Orchestra and multiple speakers, with opening programming beginning at 5:00 p.m. ET and the official Salute to America program beginning at 7:00 p.m.

    President Trump’s remarks, which he said would be long despite heat warnings, are set for 9:45 p.m. with a fireworks show at 10:30 p.m.

    Though the fair closes between 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on other days, it’s expected to continue until midnight on Saturday.

    “Despite the heat, which isn’t as bad as predicted, the crowds in D.C. are INCREDIBLE! The love of our Country has never been stronger! The Air Shows are at a level never seen before – What great pilots, what great equipment!!!” Trump enthused on his Truth Social platform. “See you all later! Speaking at around 10:00 P.M. at The Lincoln Memorial.”

    He added that the Reflecting Pool, which his administration spent weeks renovating, “looks great, despite all it went through with the Vandal Thugs.” He also promised to “quickly drain and fix the damage done right after this big weekend.”

    “Happy Independence Day. Our Country is Stronger than EVER!!!” Trump’s post concluded.

    Freedom 250, the event organizer, invited those unable to attend in person to watch live from home.
