During his primetime address regarding election interference in 2020, President Donald Trump called out both NBC and ABC during his speech, arguing that both networks are “part of a plot” to suppress the truth from every day Americans.
On Thursday, the president called for the revocation of two news outlets’ broadcast licenses after they bypassed his speech.

“In a rare move, NBC and ABC fake news have both said that they would not cover this speech,” Trump said in his evening address. “They and others in the media are part of a plot. They want to continue this fraud for whatever reason…Fraud like this should mean a revocation of their licenses.”
While both networks ultimately carried the address on their digital streaming platforms, they opted out of broadcasting it live on their flagship television stations.
Meanwhile, CNN bypassed the Thursday speech entirely, prompting anchor Kaitlan Collins to explain that the left-wing network would be monitoring and “fact-checking” the president’s remarks — rather than airing them live.
“We’ll be monitoring what the president says tonight, as we always do, but aren’t taking it live, given the president has a well-documented history of saying blatantly false things about elections,” Collins said.
