Ted Nugent to Newsmax: I Support York Revolution Players 100%

Rock legend Ted Nugent told Newsmax on Friday that he "100%" supports the Pennsylvania minor league baseball players who reportedly refused to wear Pride-themed jerseys, resulting in the York Revolution forfeiting a game.

During an appearance on Newsmax's "National Report," Nugent blasted the team's response after management condemned the players' decision as "deeply troubling."

Asked about the controversy, Nugent immediately sided with the players and said he believes they were standing up for their principles.

"I know these baseball players,” he said. “These guys are athletes. These guys are rugged individuals. These are my hunting buddies.”

Nugent also criticized the symbolism of the Pride flag and defended the players’ refusal to participate in the promotion.

"These people are down to Earth and grounded, and they know that the rainbow flag represents evil, represents child molestation, represents drag queen story hour, perverting little boys and girls with parents that are too stupid to be good parents," he said. "So, I support them 100%."

The outspoken rocker argued that opposition to Pride-themed initiatives is growing across the country and said Americans are increasingly rejecting what he views as left-wing cultural activism.

"The rainbow flag is not harmless, it's harmful and we should all demand they're getting rid of it," Nugent said. "It's really embarrassing."

He also took aim at the political left, saying Americans are embracing what he described as traditional values and common sense.

"Truth, logic and common sense seem to be running wild, and it's Kryptonite to the left," Nugent said. "So, let them show their indecency and we'll crush them. I love crushing indecency, don’t you?"

The discussion later turned to patriotism after the hosts cited polling showing fewer Democrats plan to display the American flag this Independence Day and that some Americans say they are not proud of the country.

Nugent said declining patriotism is the result of decades of influence from the education system, media, Hollywood and academia.

"It's really tragic and it's so obvious," he said. "It's glaringly obvious that the anti-education system, the teachers’ union, has intentionally and successfully dumbed down America."

Despite those concerns, Nugent said he remains encouraged by Americans he meets during his tours and outdoor activities.

"This is the 250th anniversary of the only dream available to mankind," he said. "It's called the American Dream, putting your heart and soul into being the best that you can be."

Closing the interview, Nugent said America's strength has always been rooted in liberty and self-reliance.

"Remember, 250 years is based on defiance," he said. "We are a defiant independent people and that's what the founding fathers want."
