The record-breaking FIFA World Cup shows the United States "is uniquely positioned" to host such major events, Andrew Giuliani told Newsmax on Monday.
Giuliani, executive director of the White House Task Force on the World Cup, appeared on Newsmax's "Wake Up America Early" to discuss the event with host Alex Kraemer after the tournament's group stage drew a record 3.6 million fans, surpassing the previous attendance mark set in 1994.
FIFA also projects the tournament will generate more than $11 billion in revenue, compared with roughly $3 billion from the previous World Cup.
"This has really been amazing," Giuliani said. "What we've really been seeing more than anything is the world's love affair with the United States of America."
He said fans from around the globe have packed stadiums from Boston to Seattle and Dallas, creating what he described as an unprecedented celebration of America during the nation's 250th anniversary.
"That's the power of the United States of America, especially in this Golden Age," Giuliani said. "What an opportunity to share our birthday, to celebrate our birthday, not just with American citizens, but all those visitors coming in."
Giuliani credited the administration's emphasis on security and organization for the tournament's smooth execution, saying officials focused first on ensuring stadiums, fan festivals, and host cities remained safe while making it easier for legitimate international visitors to attend.
"We've known that if we focused on the safety and security side, if we made sure that the games, the stadiums, the fan festivals were safe, if we got the right people in the country to be able to come and enjoy this stuff, so that way they can enjoy their discretionary income, then we could focus on the legacy and knowing that this didn't happen just in a vacuum," he said.
Kraemer noted the World Cup has produced dramatic matches while drawing enthusiastic crowds throughout the country, calling the event "such a success."
Asked about reports that the United States could pursue hosting the 2038 men's World Cup, Giuliani laughed off the speculation.
"We've got to get through this one," he said, joking that the tournament had already cost him "so much little hair."
Still, Giuliani said America's track record makes it the natural choice for future global competitions.
"You think we have two Olympics coming up, a Summer and a Winter Games in the next seven years," he said. "There may be a Women's World Cup coming in 2031. There's no place in the world like the United States of America to host major events, period."
The United States is already scheduled to host the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and the 2034 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. FIFA also has identified the U.S. as a leading candidate to host the 2031 Women's World Cup.
