Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill and Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall told Newsmax on Wednesday they are confident Todd Blanche will make an excellent U.S. attorney general after his contentious confirmation hearing.

"I'm really excited about Todd's nomination. I think he's going to make a great attorney general," Murrill said on "Rob Schmitt Tonight."

Murrill said she has worked with Blanche, the current acting attorney general, on reducing fraud.

"I know he's going to do a great job," Murrill said. "He did a fantastic job deflecting what were really garbage questions to begin with. They weren't questions. They were just political theater."

Murrill said she believes Blanche will get confirmed, though Democrats will continue to attack him regardless.

"Todd's going to do his job and he's going to do it well," Murrill said.

Marshall said Blanche's performance was "remarkable."

"I don't have to guess what Todd Blanche is going to be like as attorney general," Marshall said. "I've seen it, and the people of Alabama have seen it, as well as others around the country."

Marshall added that since Blanche began working at the Department of Justice, there has been a historic reduction in murder rates and violent crime.

"We've taken off hundreds of thousands of pounds of fentanyl across our border, saving lives," Marshall said. "We've seen a partnership that has not existed for quite some time with federal and state partners, and being able to allow for what people in my community want.

"And that's safe homes, safe streets to be able to raise their families," Marshall added. "The Trump administration is delivering. And Todd is one of those reasons why."
