Tuberville to Newsmax: Trump to Focus on Iran

Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., said Thursday he expects President Donald Trump to focus on Iran and election security during a prime-time address while repeating disputed claims about the 2020 election and accusing Democrats of widespread misconduct without providing evidence.

Speaking on Newsmax's "Ed Henry The Big Take," Tuberville said he expects Trump to discuss the administration's approach toward Iran.

"I want him to talk exactly about what he's going to talk about," Tuberville said. "There will be several topics. Obviously, he'll give his update on Iran, where he's at, what he's planning and what the future looks like."

"We've had, what, ten agreements with Iran, and they've broken every one of them the next day. So, he's doing what he told them he'd do, and I'm all for that. So let's see what he says about that."

The Alabama Republican also said he expected Trump to address election integrity, arguing Americans have concerns about the security of U.S. elections.

Tuberville criticized states including California and New York over their election policies and urged Congress to pass the SAVE America Act, legislation backed by Republicans that would require proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections.

"You know, in California, if you even bring an ID to the polling place, they might put you in jail for bringing it. I mean, they hate voter ID. And so, and we got to get it straight."

He said constituents in Alabama frequently ask whether their votes count and whether noncitizens are voting in U.S. elections.

"They're very concerned about it. So we got to address it. We got to get the SAVE America Act passed, but we've still got these RINOs [Republicans in Name Only], and they're just bound and determined to say, you know, 'We're going to keep up with tradition, don't worry about the country.' They just want to keep their tradition of the Senate."

Tuberville also repeated his longstanding assertion that the 2020 election was improperly decided, saying he had seen evidence that Trump was treated unfairly.

He further claimed, without offering evidence, that "probably four or five senators" were not legally elected.

Those claims have not been substantiated. Numerous court rulings, state election reviews, and audits rejected allegations of widespread fraud affecting the 2020 election's outcome.

Tuberville concluded by accusing Democrats of dishonesty and criminal conduct. He also claimed they "tried to kill the president three times" and "killed [conservative leader] Charlie Kirk," allegations for which he offered no evidence.
