Survivors of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein's crimes are urging the Senate to reject Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche's nomination to permanently lead the Justice Department ahead of his confirmation hearings.
The Hill reported that World Without Exploitation, an anti-human trafficking organization, released a video featuring Epstein survivors calling on senators to vote against Blanche.
Blanche is scheduled to appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday and Thursday.
The organization criticized the Justice Department's handling of records released under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which required the department to make investigative files public while protecting victims' identities through appropriate redactions.
"Under Blanche's leadership at the Department of Justice, Epstein survivors' personal information, including their names, phone numbers, and home addresses, was exposed, while the names of many alleged abusers and other powerful individuals connected to Epstein remained redacted," the organization wrote in a social media post.
"The disclosure revictimized the very people the justice system was supposed to protect and put their safety at risk," it added.
The group also said millions of Justice Department records related to Epstein remain unreleased and argued that people allegedly connected to Epstein's crimes have not been held accountable.
"Stand with survivors," the organization wrote. "Tell the Senate to vote NO on Todd Blanche for AG."
The Justice Department released its final tranche of Epstein records in January, adding about 3 million documents to a public database.
The release drew criticism over delays and the department's redaction process.
The video includes members of the family of Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein's most prominent accusers, who died by suicide last year.
Amanda Roberts, Giuffre's sister-in-law, said, "Our family's safety was put at risk," referring to the Justice Department's handling of the document release.
Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., told Newsmax on Tuesday that Democrats are preparing to turn Todd Blanche's confirmation hearing for attorney general into "some type [of] circus," but predicted Republicans will remain united behind President Donald Trump's nominee.
Appearing on "Wake Up America," Blackburn said she expects Democrats to use the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing to attempt to win political points, including by calling Epstein victims to testify.
"We should not be surprised that the Democrats are going to try to turn this into a circus," Blackburn said.
