Vice President JD Vance recently made waves during a wide-ranging interview on The Joe Rogan Experience. But Noah, on today’s edition of The Editors, is especially concerned by his stance on Israel.
“It’s repulsive,” Noah says. “I wish I knew what this guy was doing. I don’t. I don’t comprehend what his strategy is here. He goes out on this show, the most popular podcast in America, to allege that it wasn’t the Iranians who blew up his MOU by attacking ships on multiple occasions.”
Noah wants to know what Vance “is trying to achieve here. . . . Is he awakening the vast well of untapped hostility to Israel among the Republicans to whom he’s appealing for an obvious leverage in his quest for the presidency in 2028?”
“There is,” Noah contends, “no such thing. The Republican Party remains steadfastly supportive of Israel, especially the Israeli people, less so the Israeli government. Nevertheless, it’s the majority proposition according to every poll I can find.”
Noah points out that Vance has “descended into this really solipsistic conclusion that sort of this alternative Republican Party that he imagines was ascendant with Donald Trump is something that’s transferable to him.”
“He’s welcoming and cultivating antisemitic sentiments. There’s no other way to look at it.”
The Editors podcast is recorded on Tuesdays and Fridays every week and is available wherever you listen to podcasts.
